Update an article with a source published this year.
Among other issues, Indigenous author articles often struggle to prove notability within Wikipedia’s standards. As Wikipedia is an encyclopedia, they want to ensure that their articles are about people (and topics) who have had a significant impact. One way that Wikipedia ensures this is by requiring editors to rely on what they consider to be reliable sources, most notably academic and peer-reviewed sources (see the activity on Citations). Because of the historical marginalization of Indigenous peoples and topics within the academy, Indigenous authors often struggle to prove notability against Wikipedia’s guidelines. One way to help with this is to find and use current and recent sources and citations to demonstrate that these authors are relevant and making an impact.
